E-Type Silhouette Qualification Targets
Qualification targets for ranges that shoot on the E-type backer. These 48 targets are die-cut to 19" x 38" to mount on the standard 19.5" x 40" E-type silhouette, the backer that police and military qualification ranges, pop-up lifters and turning systems already use. Every armed threat carries a scored head circle and cardiac box, so hits can be scored on the qualification line, and the no-shoots and hostage scenes add the decision a plain silhouette never asks for: is there a gun, and who is behind it.
They are built for agencies, academies and military training units that want sustainment and qualification practice to look like the street, without changing their stands, lifters or distances. For full-size scenario training on a standard stand, the main GunZee catalog has more than 175 24" x 36" paper shooting targets.
Three groups, one course of fire
- 24 armed threats. Men and women with pistols and carbines, aimed or at low ready, such as the Armed Male Flannel Overshirt Handgun Aiming Forward E-Backer Target and the Armed Male Tactical Vest Carbine Low Ready E-Backer Target. Each is scored with a 4-inch head circle and a 10-inch cardiac box.
- 12 no-shoots. Unarmed people with phones, keys, a shop rag, children and infants, such as the Unarmed Male Looking At Phone No-Shoot E-Backer Target and the Unarmed Male Holding Keys Agitated No-Shoot E-Backer Target. Nothing is printed on them: any hit is a failed decision.
- 12 hostage scenes. A gunman behind a hostage, such as the Hostage Scenario Tank Top Gunman Handgun To Victim Head E-Backer Target and the Hostage Scenario Blond Gunman Handgun To Victim Cheek E-Backer Target. The head circle is printed on the gunman only.
Scoring zones built for the qualification line
The head circle is centered at eye level with 3-inch, 2-inch and 1-inch rings inside it. The cardiac box is a 10-inch square centered on the heart with 8-inch, 6-inch and 4-inch squares inside it. Both sit on each figure's own anatomy and are printed in faint lines: visible when scoring at the target, not from the firing line, so the shooter aims at a person rather than a printed box.
How they fit next to your qualification target
Standard qualification sheets such as the B-27 target and the FBI Q measure marksmanship against a fixed outline. E-backer targets keep the same backer and distances and add identification: the shooter has to confirm a weapon before firing and hold fire on the no-shoots. Many agencies run them alongside their state's required course of fire rather than in place of it, so check your POST or department standard for the scored course itself. The Range Manual covers police qualification targets and courses of fire and the dimensions of every common target.
For the plain outlines these targets build on, from the B-27 to the E-type, see the guide to silhouette shooting targets.
Pricing and ordering
$2.49 each, made in the USA. Volume pricing applies automatically, from 5% off at 50 targets to 25% off at 999. To try the line first, the E-Backer Sampler has one each of 30 designs. Agencies can pay online by government purchase card, request a quote, or order by purchase order, and tax-exempt accounts are set up within one business day.
Common questions
Do these fit a standard E-type backer? Yes. They are die-cut to 19" x 38" for the 19.5" x 40" E-type silhouette used on fixed stands, pop-up lifters and turning systems.
Are they scored? The 24 armed threats have a scored head circle and cardiac box. Hostage scenes are scored on the gunman only. No-shoots carry no scoring, because any hit is the wrong answer.
Can they replace our state qualification target? Use them alongside it. Your state or department sets the target for the scored qualification course; these add threat identification and no-shoot decisions to qualification and sustainment training.
