A hostage target with the two heads side by side and little vertical separation. It trains control of left-to-right error, where a miss toward the hostage is a hit on the hostage.
Both people are older and could be husband and wife. Her head is beside his and only a little lower, with a hand's width between the two faces. There is very little vertical separation to work with.
It trains the side-by-side shot, where a miss toward the hostage is a hit on the hostage. It is also a domestic picture, not a stranger abduction. Hung among open threats and no-shoots, it is the shot that has to be exact.
One kill zone is printed on this target, and it is on the gunman's face.

The hostage's head is beside the gunman's and only slightly lower. The head circle is clear on his face, but its edge on the hostage side is close to her hair. The rings give you a strict standard: hold shooters to the 3-inch or 2-inch ring once they can keep every round inside the circle. See the Range Manual on choosing and running hostage targets and on how T-box, cardiac box and A/C scoring zones compare.
This target is die-cut to the E-type silhouette, the kneeling-figure outline that military and law enforcement ranges have used for decades. It measures 19" x 38" and is sized to sit on a standard E-type backer (19.5" x 40") with a small margin all around. It staples or glues straight onto the backers your range already owns. There is nothing to trim and no stand to change.
The figure is printed life-size. Heads, shoulders and hands are the size they are on a real person at that distance, so sight pictures and hold-offs carry over.
Score windage only. Any hit on the hostage side of the circle's centerline is a failure even if it is inside the circle. Mix it with open threats so the shooter has to change gears from speed to precision.
Units and agencies that train hostage rescue and active-threat response, and experienced civilian shooters working on precision under consequence.
A course of fire needs armed threats, no-shoots and hostage problems side by side. These five come from across the E-backer line:
