A hostage target with a bound hostage and a gunman set up behind her. It is the deliberate precision shot: the hostage cannot move clear and the gunman is using her as a shield.
She cannot move and cannot help herself. His face shows only above and beside hers. This figure is printed slightly under life size so both people and her bound hands stay inside the silhouette.
A captive scenario, not a sudden grab. It trains the precision shot when the hostage is restrained and the gunman has had time to set up behind her. With his face partly behind hers, it is one of the two tightest shots in the set. It carries one scoring zone, on the gunman's face.
One kill zone is printed on this target, and it is on the gunman's face.

The figures are printed at about 85 percent of life size so both people fit the silhouette. The head circle is still a true 4 inches, so it covers a little more of the gunman's face than on the full-size targets. The rings give you a strict standard: hold shooters to the 3-inch or 2-inch ring once they can keep every round inside the circle. See the Range Manual on choosing and running hostage targets and on how T-box, cardiac box and A/C scoring zones compare.
An E-type backer is the plastic or cardboard silhouette, 19.5" wide and 40" tall, that pop-up lifters and static stands on military and police ranges are built around. This target is cut to that same outline at 19" x 38", so the paper covers the face of the backer and the figure fills the shape from edge to edge. Hang it the way you hang any E-type facing.
The figure is printed at about 85 percent of life size so that everything the shooter has to read stays inside the silhouette.
Use it for the slow, deliberate shot. Give the shooter time and demand the 2-inch ring. Mix it with open threats so the shooter has to change gears from speed to precision.
Tactical trainers, patrol instructors and range cadre who want a hostage target that fits the stands and lifters they already use.
A course of fire needs armed threats, no-shoots and hostage problems side by side. These five come from across the E-backer line:
