GunZee was founded on a simple belief: defensive firearms training should reflect real-world encounters. Real defensive situations are fast, complex, and unpredictable, and training tools should prepare shooters for those realities.
GunZee originally launched when founder Mark Buff designed a memory foam holster pad to solve his own concealed carry comfort challenges. After strong support from the firearms community, GunZee expanded into carry accessories and preparedness gear. Today, GunZee has evolved into a specialized defensive training company focused on producing highly realistic shooting targets and educational training resources.
GunZee works in partnership with professional firearms instructor Jimmy Hall and Tier One Eagle Tactics to design targets and training tools based on real defensive scenarios and proven instructor-driven training methods. This collaboration helps ensure GunZee products prepare shooters for practical, real-world defensive situations.
Mark Buff is the founder and CEO of GunZee and has carried concealed daily for more than 15 years. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Mark previously worked as a defense contractor developing technologies used to detect and neutralize improvised explosive devices (IEDs) for military vehicles. He is also the founder of Mohu, the company behind the best-selling Leaf antenna, which sold over one million units annually before being acquired in 2020.
Mark applies his engineering background and real-world defensive training experience to developing training tools that help shooters build confidence, improve decision-making, and prepare for defensive encounters.
